Though, many schools bombarded students with advertisements promising students a better future, the high prices and low-quality programs have made it hard to land jobs after completing a degree, forcing many students to emerge from their programs with debt. Strayer University
Strayer University is a U.S. based private, for-profit higher education institution located in 24 U.S. states. Though, the university specializes in degree programs for working adults and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, this hasn’t stopped them from falsely claiming its graduation rate is 33 percent, where it stands only at 15 percent. Additionally, the university has also claimed that it has a loan repayment of 55 percent, but in reality this figure stays with just 25 percent.
Along with this the Strayer charges over $15,000 per year, surpassing the cost of public 4-year universities by thousands of dollars. The bottom-line is that the university overcharges and over-promises, but fails to deliver even the minimum of services.

Medvance Institute
Medvance that functions as a corporation rather than an educational institute, has undergone many investigations for its fraudulent business practices over the years. The community college that typically grants two-year degrees was caught by a Govt agency as the varsity encouraged its students to provide false information on their FAFSA forms in order to receive government financial aid. Additionally, the students were also told to lie about their total amount of savings, in order to receive government help.
Kaplan
Kaplan is one of the oldest for-profit universities headquartered in Fort Lauderdale that was founded in 1938 by Stanley Kaplan. And ever since its existence it has been defrauding its students.
The institute that provides higher education programs, professional training courses, test preparation materials and other services was involved in a lawsuit in 2007 that accused them of a variety of corrupt activities, and the university ended up paying $30 million to fix the lawsuit. The university that charges whooping $70,000 for a Bachelor of Science programs, additionally operates a Concord Law School, which is unaccredited by the American Bar Association.

Argosy University
Argosy University is a for-profit colleges owned by Education Management Corporation that operates across 28 locations in the United States, as well as an online division.
The university offers programs for Bachelor's, Master's and doctorate level through their seven colleges and has also undergone extensive legal action. In 2009, students of the Argosy University in Dallas filed a lawsuit as recruiters wrongly informed students that the school would soon receive accreditation of their programs in which University paid $3.3 million in settlement fees.
The lawsuit was then followed by several government investigations, including an investigation by the Florida Attorney General and even this came to the same conclusion. By this you can say that Argosy is no stranger to fraud and dishonesty.
Corinthian Colleges
Corinthian Colleges was one of the largest post-secondary education companies in North America, which operated a number of Universities under different headings, including Everest, Heald College and WyoTech. Despite all this credits, the college was forced to shut down after facing an onslaught of lawsuits for fraud, predatory recruiting practices, and general unpleasant behavior. Additionally, of the others Universities on this list, Corinthian Colleges is the only one that has been shut down.

Westwood College, owned by Alta Colleges, is an American for-profit institution of higher learning with 14 campus locations in five states and online learning options. Though, it offers career-focused diploma, associate, Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, the college has been the target of lawsuits and state investigations regarding its admissions and financial aid practices.
The college that charges exorbitant rates for an associate’s degree has even to attempted to hide information about its programs, in order to secure a higher cash flow—no matter how many careers of students might get ruined in the process.
Westech College
Westech, a private for-profit college, is not far away when it comes to fraudulent activities. The college has been found guilty for a variety of offenses, including outright lying to students about loans, encouraging students to commit fraud on their forms in order to receive more financial aid. DeVry University is a division of DeVry Education Group, a for-profit higher education organization which was founded in 1931 as DeForest Training School, and officially became DeVry University in 2002.
Even though DeVry may not have faced quite as many lawsuits as some of the other schools on this list, but its accused of filing false claims and statements about recruitment pay and performance to the government. Despite this the university doesn’t have the best reputation either as 50 percent of its on-campus students and 60 percent of its online students drop out within 3.5 months.
ITT Technical Institute
ITT Technical Institute is a for-profit technical institute with over 130 campuses in 38 states of the United States, which is owned and operated by ITT Educational Services, Inc.
Even though ITT holds one of the biggest names in the for-profit University world, the institute has been accused for fraudulent activities like nearly every university on this list. ITT has been found guilty of wrongfully increasing students grades, in order to qualify for financial aid and, has undergone lawsuits for deceitful recruiting practices.
University Of Phoenix
The University of Phoenix is an American for-profit institution of higher learning, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, United States and is the largest for-profit school that additionally receives the highest amount of federal financial aid.
Although this university is awfully popular, the graduation rate is at a dismal with 15 percent and it gone undergone several lawsuits for an entire swarm of questionable legal activities. With this the institute has repeatedly been criticized for overblown promises about graduation, intentionally misleading prospective students and their future careers. Additionally, the university is disgracefully stays away from the media and often refuses interviews or cancels them at the last minute without giving a valid reason.
