BANGALORE: Besides all the well-known ventures from IT to the big tech companies, the smaller start-ups have emerged as the newer choices in search for talent. The reason that stems for this core issue is due to the fact that engineering colleges in India is far more and therefore, the growth of job opportunities has also been relatively better for those from these backgrounds, reports Rediff.

As the expansion of engineering colleges in India is taking place in brisk speed the proficiency is producing far more individuals than expected. And due to this fact the students from management institutes, including IIMs and IITs, are no longer shying away from joining start-ups at early-stage of setup.

Headstart Network Foundation a volunteer driven organization which conducted a unique speed dating event between start-ups and candidates found out that there were 300 candidates from across IITs, IIMs and other premier institutes who had applied for startup jobs.

Out of the 300 applicants, nearly 80 were screened and sent confirmation for registration. But however, it was said that most start-ups had shortlisted four to six applicants for a more detailed interaction and they have seen a conversion rate of 25-30 percent overall from their past events.

Even though startup companies tend to give lower pay package compared to regular jobs, the most popular job roles have been sales and marketing, social media marketing, content designers, back-end developers, product managers, CTOs, UI/UX designer, visualisers and graphic designers respectively.

The event also witnessed co-founders who were looking to recruit top talent. Some of the major start-ups like Paydome, Zepo, Zaya, Pluck, Videogram, Slashmatrix, Bazingalabs, AudioCompass, DRISHTANT were among others that were looking to hire talent for working in some very unique spaces.

Till date, Headstart Higher has organised speed dating sessions across Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Recently concluded ones in Hyderabad and Bangalore in April 2014 have already generated 30 to 35 plus start-ups and 70-80 plus applicants after the first level screening.
