Maharashtra Set To Get First Women-Only Engineering College

NEW DELHI: An engineering college exclusively for women to be set up in Maharashtra has got approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said.



"According to the information furnished by the All India Council for Technical Education, it has approved one women's engineering college during the academic year 2014-15 in the name of 'New Horizon Institute of Technology and Management'," she said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.



Irani also said the central government has not sanctioned any funds for the college in Thane as it is being set up by the New Horizon Education Society from its own funds.

It is indeed great news for all the women folk in this country if such universities are introduced.

1: Cummins College of Engineering for Women is an all-women engineering college in Pune Maharashtra. It has been imparting engineering education since 25 years, and are recently celebrating a Silver Jubilee. It also has a branch in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

2: Strange!!!! Have you not heard of this college in Pune? ....Maharishi Karve's MKSSS, renowned education institutions for more than 100 years, started Engineering College exclusively for Women in 1991. Cummins India Foundation gave donation to start this college, hence name of the college is ‘Cummins College of Engineering for Women’.........http://cumminscollege.org/about-engineering-college/engineering-college
