Team Dynamics: Finally, it's not just about passion and skill sets or expertise, but how well the team works together. Team dynamics are just as important, if not more important, than the individual skills of each team member. Numerous studies have shown that a happy worker is much more productive and engaged than someone who is unhappy with their work environment. It's important for team members to enjoy working with each other and to have a mutual level of respect for one another. This is especially important for virtual teams or teams that spend a significant amount of time working remotely from different locations as I've found unless people truly enjoy each others company and get along with each other, they will avoid working as part of a team and prefer to work in a silo, which doesn't allow for much collaboration to take place. If even one member of the team is unhappy with what they're doing or doesn't get along with another coworker, this can create a very destructive situation for the rest of the team. As a startup, it's important to note that this team dynamic of openness and collaboration sets the epitome for the overall corporate culture; something to keep in mind as the organization starts to grow. Once the company culture has been defined, it's a very difficult thing to change later on.

As the great Henry Ford once said,
"Coming together is a beginning.Keeping together is progress. Working together is success." So as much as we're all trying to find that billion-dollar idea it may be worthwhile to focus some of those energies on building the billion-dollar team and let the ideas start to flow.
