Way of choosing my people
We spot talent with right attitude, aptitude, experience and mostly through good references. We believe in nurturing young talents and training them in house. The budding talents are exposed to a whole spectrum of technologies and then they choose projects with technologies that they excel in. We don’t just believe in the reward system for keeping our talents inspired, our community - ideas.sourcen.com hosts many innovative idea from our people, which gives them an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the company. This not only gives our people the sense of achievement and recognition, but keeps the motivated and engaged.
Different actions if I rebuild my company from scratch all over again
Our rebuild mantra will be - Focus on innovation and keep planning ahead of the curve
Motivation and Drives factor
People I work with inspire me – it’s amazing to see them give so much of themselves to something we have built and that they believe in. Their success drives me.
Unique about my way of motivating troops
The best way to motivate the troops is encouraging them to be creative & innovative while giving them a level of responsibility which in turn breeds self-motivation and enthusiasm.
The challenges and lessons learnt to get first customer
RainingData was our first customer. RainingData has an old legacy database business, which needed to be revamped and made available as an XMLDB to a new generation of businesses with different people, process & technology.
Experience of reaching out to potential investors
We still are a bootstrapped operation. We haven’t reached out to investors yet but now with our growth trajectory and potential we are considering that option too.
My role at different dimensions as the company evolved
As a co-founder of a Startup we generally had to do everything at the start. I was responsible managing and holding up to things internally. Over a period of time we have found talent that could do some of the tasks much better than us. We are now over 8 years old with significant recognition and appreciation from our clients like SAP, Intel, Apple, HP, DELL, Disney, MTV, Bank of America, CondeNast, JWT, BOX, Evernote, Badgeville, Time Inc etc. and my role has extended to managing Accounts and maintaining effective business support relationship with our clients.
As a leader how I make sure that I am connecting the right dots
We make sure that we adopt the 1) Best practices,2) Learning from history,3) Identifying what we are good at ,4) Hiring talent to bridge the gap in areas where we ourselves lack competency
My thoughts related to entrepreneurship/ leadership and management
No risk – no gain. Be prepared to take calculated risk. Leadership is not a position. It is your actions that determine your leadership skills. To manage people, process well you will need to bring in innovation at every level. If you do not innovate you die.
Advice for fellow entrepreneurs
My advice to fellow entrepreneurs would be to always work like a startup. The enthusiasm, the energy to drive things at much faster pace & a quest for exploring and innovating rapidly.
Best company I admire globally
SAP is the company that I admire. Not just because they are one of my good clients. We all know that SAP is a market and technology leader in business management software, solutions, services for improving any business process. What I admire most is that they are constantly innovating & planning ahead of curve. Their vision of the future is not just for next quarter or next year but they want to be a company that is relevant generations after generation as long as businesses exist on this planet. Even during recession SAP’s business keeps moving on a steady upward trajectory. It’s hard to imagine SAP as an ERP company as their current business pipeline continues to be strong, fuelled by cloud and mobile products. This company is always gearing up for new trends, technology and standing tall amongst the competition.
