iPad chips made by Infineon, website leaks
Munich: Apple's effort of keeping the chip maker for iPad went in vain as pictures on a website showed that Infineon Technologies AG is amongst the suppliers for the tablet computer. This leak has given a big boost to the earnings of Infineon and it is estimated by experts that the company will make $10 on every iPad sold, according to Reuters. An analysis by teardown firm Chipworks has already identified chips in the iPad from suppliers such as Cirrus Logic Inc, Atmel Corp, Linear Technology Corp, Intersil Corp and STMicroelectronics NV. Luke Soules -- Co-Founder of teardown firm iFixit -- cracked the device open to unearth NAND flash memory by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, an LCD display from LG Display Co Ltd and microchips from Broadcom Corp, Texas Instruments Inc and NXP Semiconductors Netherlands BV. Chipmakers and other companies involved in the process would not mind such teardowns as it gives them increased publicity as well as a good boost on the stock market.
