SUNNYVALE: Vikram Verma, co-founder, president and chief executive officer of Savi Technology, was named this week by The World Economic Forum as one of 40 "Technology Pioneers for 2003". Verma will be involved in the ongoing dialogues with world economic leaders on a variety of far reaching issues affecting business and society, such as how innovative technologies can improve the global community by transforming the way business and society operates. Savi Technology provides real time solutions that integrate automatic identification technologies with powerful software to manage, monitor and secure supply chain assets such as rail cars, truck trailers and ocean and air cargo containers. "These 40 companies are true pioneers, their importance lies in how their discovery and development of radical and transformational technologies may present us with alternatives to how we live or do business," said Klaus Schwab, president of the World Economic Forum. "This significant recognition of Vic is well deserved because he has been the driving force behind the development of some of the most innovative and productive technology available today," said Geoffrey Moore, founder of The Chasm Group. "One of the key lessons we've learned in the last few years is that adoptable technology doesn't happen overnight. Savi stands out because it has a history of proven success that it has consistently leveraged to develop unique real time solutions that bring new levels of efficiency, visibility and security to global supply chains" said Moore. Jose Maria Figueres, managing director of the World Economic Forum, added, "There is a lot of confusion and misunderstanding about the implications and applications of new technologies. Tech Pioneers are an instrumental component in holding a productive and informed dialogue on the nature of innovation and its societal effect. At the Forum, we are committed to facilitating understanding on how technology innovations can be harnessed, developed and adapted to improve society."
