Red wine with or without alcohol will reduce the harmful effect of smoking on the endothelium. And the most studied benefit of red wine is its heart protective effect. It seems to be preventative against coronary heart diseases. By forming nitric oxide, polyphenols in red wine helps to maintain healthy blood vessels. Moderate wine drinking is also associates with a lower risk of Alzheimer's and kidney stone formation. Red wine also contains anti aging property.
So now that wine has so many good health aspects, why not make sure that your wine is truly healthy. The best way to do so is to make it at home.Making wine at home can be a wonderful experience.
Here are some quick tips which you can follow to make your wine healthier. Making wine is a delicate process and careful sterilization is very important throughout the process. You should not avoid the importance of cleanliness, it is suggested to rinse the equipment with cold water and sterilize it by using potassium metasulphite.
As mentioned earlier, it is an art like cooking, wrong proportion or little deviation might end up in a bad result. To simplify the process of crushing grape you can go for grape juice or concentrate. This will help you to avoid the undesired microorganisms through bruised or partially rotten fruit. First-time winemakers are always advised to go for the concentrate. There is nothing wrong in tasting wine when it is going through the process of fermentation. Instead it will help you to get to know how much of sugar should be added. While snagging a sample from the container you should use a sanitized wine thief.
You can use bentonite, gelatin and egg whites as fining agents to clarify the wine. Once again, make sure that you use the correct proportions. After all, patience is the key tool which you need for your first wine making attempt. Six weeks is the recommended period to get the drink ready, it doesn't mean you should mark a day in your calendar; the longer it takes the tastier it gets.
The grapes used aren't fully ripened, so that the wine won't be too sweet. This keeps the drink light and refreshing.
