Zynga moves from farm to city with 'CityVille'
San Francisco: Zynga, the company behind such popular social networking games like FarmVille and Mafia Wars, is now moving to town with its latest game called 'CityVille'. This is Zynga's most ambitious project till date and includes 3D renderings. The game's General Manager Sean Kelly said, "CityVille is where Monopoly meets Main Street. Instead of harvesting crops you're harvesting your neighborhood; instead of clearing your friend's frontier you're working on a friend's franchise." CityVille is Zynga's first new game in six months that will be launched globally. It is expected to be available by next week in five languages- English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish- simultaneously. The game asks the players to build their dream city from scratch. It involves creating cities while balancing the needs of virtual inhabitants and nursing to jobs such as running businesses and harvesting crops. Zynga hopes CityVille will continue to usher in success like their previous games - FarmVille and FrontierVille. For the 3D renderings of CityVille, Zynga hired a staff architect to materialize the 3D ambitions. The game includes many firsts for Zynga. CityVille is the company's largest and most interactive game board so far. Players will take on the roles of city mayors and host businesses owned by players from other cities. The game will be initially available on Facebook. Zynga has tasted success on the Facebook platform with FarmVille and Maia Wars. So it comes as no surprise that CityVille will launch on Facebook as well. The company has registered over 320 million people playing its games since it first launched in 2007.
