MUMBAI: Zensar Technologies has bagged offshore contracts valued at $14 million for projects involving application on Oracle’s software products. The company, according to a leading business daily, plans to recruit more than 200 professionals in its Enterprise Applications Group (EAG) for the new projects, which have been signed by companies in the USA, UK and Middle East in the last few months. EAG currently employs 400 people. Sanmina-SCI Corporation, Videojet and Electronic Arts have outsourced development work on Oracle to Zensar. The company already works for Logitech, Fluke, Trimble Navigation, Mashreq Bank, Global Payments and Beckman Coulter. The new recruits would include pre-sales consultants, subject matter experts (SMEs) and functional consultants in supply chain, logistics and distribution to manage its strategic consulting engagements. The company will also aggressively hire project execution teams, which will comprise project managers, team leads, application database architects and developers, who would all operate from the company’s campus facilities on Nagar Road, Pune. Zensar’s offers offshore development and support in a ‘dual shore’ engagement model to significantly reduce the ‘cost of ownership’ for the customer. More recently, Zensar has launched the unique EAG 80/20 methodology, offering more cost reductions, where 80% of the ERP implementation and migration project can be executed offshore. The flow of new contracts has resulted in Zensar’s offshore business growing by over 40% in the first quarter of this year. The company aims to strengthen this further in the coming year. Zensar has acquired over 10 acres of land in Kharadi in Pune for development of a new 1,800-developer software campus. This will require an investment of over Rs 35 crore and will house the offshore development centres, as well as the fast growing EAG, consulting and customs solutions groups of the company.
