Zebra Technologies to acquire Navis Tech

Chennai: Zebra Technologies, a barcode systems provider, has recently agreed to acquire Navis Technologies and plans to speed up its Indian expansion, said top officials. U.S. based Navis Technologies, a software developer for container terminals, plans to double its employee strength in India to 200 in the next 12 months. John Dillon, CEO, Navis Technologies, said that its India center has been in operations during the last nine months. "We are building up a strong engineering team here in Chennai and new projects would be done out of here," he said. Zebra Technologies, announced that they would acquire Navis Technologies for about $145 million and plans to get into new services and add its revenue by $60 million in 2007. At present, Navis Technologies' global headcount is 550 people.
