New Delhi: Young Indians angry about the attack on women in a pub in Karnataka's Mangalore town are giving vent to their ire on the internet with critical comments on blogs and furious responses to the video of the incident on YouTube.
"On a day when India celebrated its 60th Republic Day, the news (of the Mangalore pub incident) that made the headlines was shocking, awful and shameful to hear as an Indian," said a comment on a blog.
"I am stunned to see that in a democratic nation, where every individual has the right to live the way he or she wants, such incidents happen," the blogger added.
On Saturday, a group of 40 activists of the Sri Rama Sena barged into the pub Amnesia - The Lounge in Mangalore. They bashed up a group of young women and men, claiming the women were "violating traditional Indian values". The girls were punched and their hair pulled by the self-styled moral brigade.
The video of the incident, which was uploaded on the popular video sharing website YouTube, has become one of the most watched clips on the internet.
Of the scores of comments posted in response to the video is that of a 22-year-old user Chaitu100 who asked: "Spoiling Indian culture?! So is this Indian culture - beating up women?"
Bangalorebeats, a blogger, wrote: "Now who gives them (the activists) the right to moral police others? Hindu religion professes respect to women and not to harass them. If one carefully reads the Veda or ancient scriptures then one can understand that women had much liberty in ancient India".
Aarti Sharma, a Kolkata based BPO employee, said: "What makes them men enough to raise their hand on women? This is absolute violation of a person's right, a crime on the pretext of tradition. Do they even know what tradition means?"
"No one has a right to take law into their hands. Is beating girls not a violation of our tradition? The culprits should not be allowed to get away lightly after what they have dared to do," said Rahul, a Delhi based software engineer.

On that day in Mangalore not only women but even men were
beaten up,but media was more intrstd in showing only women
being beaten.i personally met a victim(a guy called
suresh),he was the most severely wounded among the
victims. That too some scratches on his right hand and a
small wound in his back. This incident shows how the media is
controlled by christians and this issue is used to cover up
the conversion activities taking place in mangalore and
whole of India.Renuka a christian puppet.Ek hindu ka dushman ek hindu hi hain.
This just clears the point that media is a controlled by congress party and the missionaries, because such an issue is raised so high only due to the attacks on church in mangalore recently(no one cares about the harrassment and mental truama that christian missionaries give to a person whom they intend to convert)(i have tasted it),christians are cunning people, they are shameless loosers, they have always lost but never admitted to it,they have lost to islam before but used the media to cover it(Islam will defeat the loosers again)
Cunning christians use this issue to cover the conversion issue.

An assault on individual freedom, that's what this is. It reminds us that India is a democracy only in name, and has no guts to stand by the freedom. Groups of gangsters can concviniently encroach and invade freedom at their will. Being the election time, this assault is used as means or tool antogonize and sway the voters away from one party's favor to the other. It's very obvious which party is aiming at which in this case, poor women folk are made to take the brunt for it. Lawless lowlife land, Gandhi was aberration, country didn't deserve him.

The young India is protesting against this incident, good, Indian culture dose not allows beating up women,
But where this anger goes when any women is made to fall in illegal activities, when poor and rural India saws a minister assaulting a child girl, where their a ethics goes when they see young child girls of rural India being trafficked since years, and no govt taking strong action on the prostitution corners in these big cities allowing more and more of these acts.
Is drinking anywhere a moral act , were those people doing a social service and where beaten up, yes law shouldnt be taken in hands, But dear all in our country laws are offent took in hands by politicians in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, M.P, nobody cares , just because some lavish people's harmony had been disturbed while they were rejoicing is the matter of national concern now a days.
Its a shame full country where people are killed by militants public ally, and govt. not taking any action against a country who is found guilty enough to be retaliate, still we are always in position to request the world community of forget these event as usual.
