BANGALORE: This year Yahoo is changing its marketing strategy. It is going local to woo more eyeballs. Neville Taraporewalla, Director and Country General Manager Yahoo! said the website will introduce more local content in the online entertainment area and other communication properties. The company will look at strengthening its presence in the smaller markets. "Our objective is to connect with our consumers better," he said. Taraporewalla said that the website will relaunch its career site as Yahoo! India Jobs, for which it has tied up with a number of career sites. The portal is also planning to start language mail service. Though most portals in India failed in popularizing the language mail services, Yahoo! India is betting heavily on that. "The challenge would be to make the concept a success and we are going to do so by presenting it in much more user-friendly fashion," said Taraporewalla. It is also planning to localize its search engine, by launching its recently launched knowledge search service, in India. "We are going to make it more relevant for the Indian users."
