NEW DELHI: Come September, Yahoo! India users will get enhanced mail storage capacity and access to a host of other new services. The leading Internet services company will introduce several enhancements to Yahoo! Mail, including a major increase in storage space for both free and premium users, said a Yahoo! India statement. While the new services have already been launched in other parts of the world, Yahoo! India and other Asian countries are scheduled to benefit from these initiatives in September. "Currently users from India with yahoo.com e-mail IDs will benefit whilst those having yahoo.co.in accounts will reap the benefits in coming months," the statement said. Under the new initiatives, free e-mail subscribers will automatically be upgraded to 100 megabytes of storage, 25 times more than the prevailing free offering. "Premium customers will have virtually unlimited storage at two gigabytes, far in excess of any major e-mail service and 200 times the amount offered by most other Internet service providers," said the company. Additionally, the company is opening up over 50 million Yahoo! Ids, offering consumers more address options for their e-mail accounts. "The company is focused on continually innovating and improving Yahoo! Mail and a number of additional product enhancements are expected to follow in the coming months," the statement said. "There are about 30 million registered Indian users of Y! Mail on the Yahoo! Network," said Neville Taraporewalla, country manager of Yahoo! India. "An increase in the storage capacity on Yahoo! Mail will definitely be well appreciated by Yahoo! Mail users since many of them have Yahoo! Mail as their primary mail account," he noted.
