NEW DELHI: As different hand-held device vendors continue to target the vibrant Indian market, Bangalore based Xserve India is all set to introduce pocket PC in the Indian market very soon. "Today, as mobile and wireless technology enters the enterprise market, devices are becoming more powerful, faster, smaller, more efficient, and less expensive, creating more value for the users. We feel that this is the right for us to introduce our pocket PC in the Indian market and we would be doing it shortly," informed Xserve India Pvt Ltd MD, Rahul Gupta. With the Internet age, the corporate environment is evolving from concentrated industrial workshops and location-focused corporate offices to less structured, virtual office environments covering wider geographical areas. This has created a need for technology that can support a mobile and virtual workforce. The company would be targeting the corporate users for its Pocket PC and is likely to price the product at around Rs 35,000 to Rs 37,000 for the Indian market. "We are already selling this product in the Chinese market and is doing pretty well over there. We sincerely feel that the corporates are in need for this kind of product and applications like sales force automation will drive the market penetration for this," he added. One of the hottest areas of mobile and wireless technology is focused around the subject of convergence—particularly around exploring the feasibility of combining the wireless phone and the PDA, the two most used devices in the mobile market. With the recent launch of pocket PC by Capitel Wireless, the Indian market is just opening up for this segment. Headquartered in India, Xserve India was established in 2002 as the service, marketing and sales enterprise for all divisions of Taiwan based Wistron group. Wistron was formerly known as Design and Manufacturing Services (DMS) Division of Acer Group in Taiwan.
