Xansa Plc, a $800-million UK-based company, announced Thursday that it would invest Rs 160 Crore in its India operations.

CHENNAI: The company also announced the setting up of a 27-acre development center in Chennai that can accomodate upto 6000 employees. The facility has opened with 240 professionals and will shortly be scaled up to house 650 seats. "About 20 per cent of the total workforce of 6,000 employees is based out of India. We plan to take this to 40-50 per cent in the next few years," Xansa Plc chief executive Alistair Cox said. The company is also scaling up its operations at other centres such as Noida and Pune. It expects to have 10,000 seats in India sometime in the future. "We will operate in multiple shifts, so that the facilities can actually employ more than 10,000 professionals," company officials explained.
