MUMBAI: The fact that the world's leading gaming publisher and developer, US-based Electronic Arts, is setting up office in India indicates the conscious effort being made by international players to tap into the gaming market in India, reports Economic Times. Steve Miller, business development director, Electronic Arts, while speaking at the Interactive Gaming session at Ficci-Frames '04, said that as the hardware base in India grew, he was sure EA would find a larger market than they expected. "The hardware providers like Sony 's Playstation 2 and Nintendo's consoles have not done a fantastic job to build a strong base in India and piracy is also a big issue which stops us from coming and selling in India. As piracy is suppressed and consumer's become more aware, the market potential will be large," said Miller. Miller said EA would follow the local pricing strategy when they launch their popular EA Sports, FIFA, Cricket , Rugby and Gold among other games in the Indian market. EA, which holds the number one market share in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, had revenue figures of $2.4 billion for FY'03 over FY’02’s $1.6 billion with 10 million units sold across seven platforms in 37 languages.
