Describing the incident of stealing of data from a call center in Noida as a sting operation by UK magazine Sun, Maran said "The world is jealous of our IT growth". The Minister said one or two such stray incidents happen everywhere in the world. "This (the Noida one) is a small incident. Everyone is jealous of our IT growth. the world is jealous of our IT growth," Maran said. The Minister said that no official complaint was lodged in the incident and attempts were made to "defame" Indian IT companies. Maran assured the members that government would take all steps to protect the confidentiality of data of companies. Amidst thumping of desks, he said the Indian IT entrepreneurs have "made us proud". Maran said all foreign companies bring in their own security systems in BPO centres and the Noida incident was a sting operation "and an attempt to defame our IT industry."
