Women MPs more successful, qualified than men

New Delhi: Even as women are set to get more political power in India, a study shows that women MPs were more successful and qualified than their male counterparts.
According to data prepared by the PRS Legislative Research, women candidates in elections were more successful than men. While 10 percent of all women candidates won elections, the corresponding figure for men was only six percent.
The education profile of female MPs was better than male MPs as 32 percent of women MPs had a post-graduate or doctoral degree. "The corresponding figure for men is 30 percent," says the study.
"While 42 percent of women MPs have a graduate degree, the number is 46 percent for men," it adds.
In the 14th Lok Sabha, 30 percent women had bachelor's degrees, and 58 percent had higher degrees.
The PRS study says the women MPs, on an average, are younger than their male counterparts.
"The average age of women MPs is 47 years while the average age of male MPs is 54 years. There are no women MPs over 70 years, while seven percent of the men in parliament are over 70 years old."
"A higher number of women below the age of 40 have been elected to the 15th Lok Sabha. While in the 14th Lok Sabha only 17 percent were below the age of 40, in the current Lok Sabha the figure stands at 29 percent," it says.
Other data on women candidates' and women MPs' performance is given below --
-The 15th Lok Sabha has 58 women MPs, constituting 11 percent of the newly-elected house.
-Of the larger states (having more than 20 seats in the Lok Sabha), Madhya Pradesh has the highest percentage of women MPs (21 percent) followed by West Bengal (17 percent) and Uttar Pradesh (15 percent).
-Until last year, women constituted only nine percent of the Lok Sabha, 10 percent of the Rajya Sabha and seven percent of state legislative assemblies.
-Nine percent of the candidates fielded and 12 of those elected were women.
-Of the major political parties (at least 15 seats in the Lok Sabha), the Trinamool Congress fielded the highest percentage of women candidates, and has the highest percentage of women MPs.
-Interestingly, for both the BJP and the Congress, women constitute about 11 percent of the candidates fielded, and 10 percent of those elected.

2: I do not have any bias for women or men the
article says that women are more successful.
The very estimation of success of an MP is
reduced to just getting elected and not what
is their contribution to the benifit of
people at large. What kind of contribution
they made in terms of policy making by the
parliament? is the question if u say they did
better than men fine in developping a policy
or program it is good.

10: Politics is like any tom and jack come and
join. Today India need politicans you are
strong,intelligent. With degree we can say
educated,even with high percentages we can
say meritious but not intelligent. Today our
country suffereing from many problems because
of not having good leadership.
According science women are emotionally weak,intelligently weak. How can hope these persons can run the country. Mere by seeing 1 or 2 we can't say they can run the country. It is running their family , there are ruling 100 crore people of different mentalities and ideologies.
I not favourgiving reservation to women on the name of empowerment to give reservation in our political system. There shouldn't have any reservation. This is a democratic country,for politicans vote bank they giving reseravtions. One day our country will face problems because giving power in the hands mentally ,physically weak people. One day India also become Russia which is divided into 15 parts because of weak leadership.

statesman, a benevolent leader, an ego idol
who can be relied upon for achieving peace
and prosperity etc. are overall not helping
us to ascend but the carelessness,
hooliganism, unvigilant in bringing to the
forefront or lime light the right kind of
candidacy, lack of right attitude, knowledge,
qualification, outlook, etiquettes, foresight
etc. are dragging the overall reputation of
man in the eyes of the women in descending
downward whilst on the contrary the opposite
is true for the women, who are more
particular, more meticulous, more sure, more
dependable or reliable are the reasons for
which the tide is flowing towards advantages
for the enlightened, progressive,
revolutionary women.
Women therefore will keep dominating the show in all the spheres of life the world over so long as men are unconscious to such natural psychological phenomenon which are beyond domination, suppression or drifting away of the adverse effects from men, and if men wake up to this alarm, live up to the expected mark, deliver the due necessities, things might improve for them else there seems to be no sign for holding back the women to lead.
The long term effects if not check of such a mechanism may not be beneficial in the long run and in the interest for both men and women. Correct balance sociologically, politically etc. must be maintained in the overall society as a whole.

countries the % of women in their respective
parliament is less. How can u ignore the
talent of males of males every field. For

will be wiped off after some time. But now
most of the MPs work to generate wealth for
their 5 to 10 generations which is wrong. Any

is only to get their family members prosper.
In fact giving tickets to family members must
be banned. Besides I feel there is need for a
written and oral examination for candidates
and the selection board must be honest
judges. They must critically analyse the
essential qualities of candidates and clear.
The present method of selection based on
payment and criminal activities to create
fear etc must vanish. One more important
thing is salary and perks must be the
avearage of comon people and not the present
day hefty one. Bench of Supreme Court judges
must be active watchers of performance.

different area] to generate a grad[Fuction of
last 5 yrs work
(Social,Scientific,Education,etc) for all and
put these value in election for people to get
clear idea about thier future leader.Which
means you have to register yourself before 5
yrs and system will give you grad at the time
of election.Now if you got below a standard
grad government will give you reservation in
terms of only training
[Social,Scientific,Education,etc] as per your
area of work[interest].There are some other
point that you are elected , got a minister
post but not able to fix problems .You should
give your personal feedback at the end of
your tenure and this feedback will be used
for next minister.Now if he is ready to take
challenge he will be minister.I guess due to
lack of this kind of commitment we are not
able to fix some selfmade problems like
Poverty,Education,Terrorist,Diversity,etc and
