Wipro wins Credit Suisse IT business award

Bangalore: Zurich based bank Credit Suisse has selected global software major Wipro Technologies for its 'IT business award for strategic partnership', the tech firm said here on Wednesday. "The award recognises Wipro's partnership with Credit Suisse IT in executing its global sourcing strategy, including setting up a dedicated centre in Pune," India's third IT bellwether said in a statement. Wipro's flagship IT services division was selected from top 25 IT vendors worldwide. The selection was based on a vendor scorecard, evaluating on criteria its relationship, quality, capability, competitive pricing and managed risks. "Wipro has partnered with Credit Suisse IT to provide outsourced services for banking functions, including information technology, operations, finance and front-office functions," Credit Suisse chief information officer (CIO) Tom Sanzone said in the statement. The Pune centre of excellence supports the Swiss bank's businesses across 50 countries. The partnership helped Credit Suisse IT to create a footprint in the most attractive talent market in the world with minimal capital expenditure and quick time-to-market strategy. "The award is a testament to the strength of our relationship with Credit Suisse IT, which is focused in its approach to a global ramp-up. "We intend to deliver value to Credit Suisse IT through domain expertise in technology and operations in financial services, leveraging dynamic innovation process," Wipro finance solutions Girish Paranjpe noted. The Pune centre accounts for 24 percent of Wipro's global IT services revenues, the statement added.
