Wipro to hire 7,500 freshers in 2010-11
Mumbai: India's third largest software exporter Wipro plans to hire about 7,500 fresh graduates in the next financial year starting April 1, 2010. It will consist both engineering and non-engineering students.
Talking to Bloomberg UTV, Girish Paranjpe, Joint CEO of Wipro Technologies said, "We plan to bring in 7500 engineers for which we plan to go to campus. Not only engineers we are also planning to hire non engineering students."
Currently, the company is busy in making lateral hires. Recently the company had announced gave salary hikes to all its employees. With effect from February 1, employees are likely to get a pay hike in the 8 to 12 percent range with some even getting a 15 percent increase.
In the quarter ended December 31, 2009, the company's net profit rose to
1,203 crore ($263 million) under international accounting rules, from 1,010 crore a year ago. The company expects its revenue grow by 3.6-5.4 percent in the quarter ending March 31, 2010 from the preceding quarter to $1.16-$1.18 billion, after it posted a 4.9 percent sequential rise in the latest quarter.

15: I see fair amount of criticism for Wipro and
as a long term employee of the company I
would say they deserve it. I have seen the
company deteriorate from among the better
software employers to something being loathed
by majority of it's employees. In recent
years the company seems interested only about
their bottom line and in the process they
have sacrificed well being of the employees.
Even in recession hit year they didn't want
to impact their net profit. While it's
important for a company to remain profitable,
during bad times a company is expected to
compromise a bit on the % of net profit. But
during the bad phase Wipro was hell bent on
increasing the % of net profit and actually
did that. In a quarter with negative growth,
they increased the net profit! This was
possible by arbitrarily firing people on the
guise of 'voluntary resignation', scaring the
working mass and making them work unearthy
hours. The management was put under
tremendous pressure and in turn they put the
pressure on junior stuff. It has created an
environment of distrust and insecurity. I
worked for the company mostly due to
association with group of people who are goo
and I got used to. But last year some were
fired while many others resigned. Now I am
out of it and happy about that :-) I see the
company facing a backlash now.

per month( 24,000 basic + 30 % of that as da
& another 46% of basic as perks).Which
Indian software company pays so much ? But
then not even 1 % of Indian engineers can
clear the entrance exam of any of the
mentioned companies.After all it is not a
dumb aptitude test of "learn-ability".

on 9th feb tcs came to our college( new horizon college of engg, bangalore), and recruited 109 students(B.E,MCA).
i was in top 25 from our college and a very senior person from tcs honoured us wid offer letter in audi while remaining were given offer letter by principal, hod.
also wipro recruited 79 of us (10th n 11th feb)...
this time i was First in d list...
and looking at d entire placement process, one could sense that tcs and wipro are very clear with their intension of hiring in mass.
btw hat do you ppl suggest, should i join tcs o wipro? ?
currently i'm waitin for oracle financials to visit our campus and will try my best to get into it, and m confident i should be able to make it. But oracle hasn't confirmed their date, and if it so turns out that they don't visit, where should i choose to join?

bond: 50k for a 2 yrs duration

compensation : 2.75-3.25 lacs depending upon
performance durin training

67: as fresher dont join indian companies
(TCS,WIPRO,INFY)becoz u cant learn anything
and ur work is not recognized well. Better to
wait for ORACLE financiala or join any
product based company that would be better
and preparing for CAT joining wipro is night
mare.. dont ruine ur life joing wipro. I have
seen some posts in favour of wipro simple
question to all those :- why are employees
moving out of wipro in huge which is higher
than TCS and INFY?

comments.but as per my opinion wipro is one
of the top IT company.now it doesnt hav boom
for it.but in future it may has highly in
boom.so never expect bad or good. it depends
on the suiation.

Wipro is the waste company as per my opinion. these people will say that we are never compromised on deadlines, quality etc. but y those people are not that much agressive in taking decisions for increasing the salary to employees when they are getting huge profits.
For all freshers, my sincere suggestion is dont join wipro.if u join with wipro for 2.75/annum, i will challenge that ur salary will not cross 3.8/annum after getting 3 years of experience.
salary was the reason for the higher attrition rate in wipro.they will torture the employees like anything telling that u have n years of exp. and complete this task in 2 or 3 days. wipro is considering us as cheap labour.definetely by the end of this year most of the current employees will quit wipro if things goes in the same way. i am sure abt it.

72: I am a B.Tech 2009 IT fresher from MG
University Kottayam, Kerala. There was no
major intake for 2009 batch because of
slowdown. Now its over and hiring is back but
only for 2010 batch because they are the
freshest. Recently wipro conducted a drive
for 2010 here in kerala. But both 2009 and
2008 still suffer none of companies need them
any more...DON'T YOU ALL MNCS HAVE A SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE THESE AFFECTED ONES
ALSO A FAIR CHANCE. I request wipro to
conduct an off campus for 2009 batch..please
give us also a chance! Come on guys its my
dream company I don't care abt if doesn't
cross 3.8 per anum as some one has
said..PLease guys give us a chance.
