Wipro to expand Kochi facility

KOCHI: Software major Wipro Ltd expects its Kochi unit to generate $500-$600 million in exports by 2010 when the facility will have around 8,000 people. Kochi will be one of the four main centers for Wipro's product engineering, Wipro Technologies Vice-President and Business Head for Embedded and Access Solutions Division, Rajesh Ram Mishra said. Wipro began its operations in Kochi a year ago. The company has 200 people in Kochi, engaged in developing technologies in the areas such as Very Large System Integration, embedded software and data warehousing. Mishra said, “Wipro would soon start building its own campus in a 25-acre plot within Infopark.”
