BANGALORE: Wipro Limited claims that it is the only Indian company, which is bidding for a piece of a large General Motors (GM) contract. According to a GM spokeswoman reported that GM which is currently providing Electronic Data systems Corporation about $2 billion a year to handle its back-office operations, the contract will end by next year. The official also said that EDS and all other top tier information technology companies are fighting for it. Besides India’s rapid growth in technology, the technology companies are still not identified under top tier section and fail to involve in multibillion-dollar contracts. Richard Garnick, Chief executive of Wipro America, said, “We are the only Indian out-sourcing company engaged in that process.” He later added that he would not comment on whether Wipro might team up with a competitor such as EDS and might partner an Indian software development company.
