Windows Phone 7 scheduled for Oct 21 release?
Bangalore: The anticipation for the Windows Phone 7 may finally be over as rumors are doing rounds that the European launch date is pinned on October 21. In the U.S., the Windows Phone 7 will see its release on November 8. The initial phones that will be loaded with Microsoft's latest mobile operating system include the HTC Mondrian/HD7, the LG Optimus 7 and the Samsung Cetus. The Windows Phone 7 was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress this year in Barcelona, followed by additional information at the MIX 2010. According to electronista.com, Microsoft is planning an Apple-style Friday launch in U.S. hoping the sales will soar during the weekend keeping the traffic more sustained. This step may be taken as last year the predecessor of Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile 6.5 was launched on a Tuesday and saw no significant sales increase. Microsoft has been putting a lot of money for the marketing of the mobile OS. Figures close to $500 million is said to be pumped into the fall marketing campaign of the Windows Phone 7 in the hope of gaining as much market as possible. Now it remains to be seen if the OS gets the desired reaction from the consumers that Microsoft is hoping for.
