Bangalore: Yahoo has launched the new looking Yahoo Mail Beta interface across the world, keeping its promise of a fall launch of its revamped mail service code named Minty. The new Beta version claims to be 2X faster than earlier versions, offers integration with Twitter, Facebook and Yahoo updates. Not just that, the new Beta claims significant spam protection, blocking 1.6 trillion spam messages per year. "We have fundamentally transformed our product suite, focusing on simplifying and clarifying the user experience through the Yahoo mail beta," said Kakul Srivastava, Vice President, Communications & Communities Product Management, Yahoo. So let us take you through as to what's new in the new Yahoo Mail Beta. First up is the 'What's New' feature, which is the default view when you log into your Yahoo Mail Beta account. The 'What's New' tab enlists the latest updates from your contacts, Facebook and Twitter and allows you to share the same. You can either choose to share on all of them or one at a time. What's more! You can now view pictures or videos shared through either Picasa and Flickr or YouTube in your inbox, without navigating across to the respective links. The new Beta performs twice as faster thanks to the cloud technology deployed for the same. There have been changes in the Yahoo Messenger as well. You can publish messenger status to Yahoo! Pulse, Facebook and Twitter simultaneously. It also allows users to play many social games. For this Yahoo has tied up with companies Like Zynga, Elex and others. To give you uniform experience across platforms and devices, Yahoo messenger deploys multiple points of presence and server side archiving. While the former lets people stay connected as they move from one place to another, the latter allows users to retrieve recent message conversations regardless of where they access Yahoo Messenger. Past few years has seen a lot of Yahoo Mail users move to other mail services such as Gmail. It will be interesting to see if the revamped Yahoo Mail Beta will be able to attract users and pose a challenge for its competitors? Yahoo's tryst with India however has been fruitful. The reinvented Yahoo site has experienced favorable reactions from Indian users. With its global R&D center in India, the country is a critical market for Yahoo, both in terms of user perspective and business perspective. Investments in the country are continuing from the company as is the hiring. With a new facility being inaugurated here, Yahoo does seem to have lot of plans in the offing for India. We are waiting eagerly to see 'What's New for India from Yahoo'?
