Why is Indian IT Shunning a $125 Bn Opportunity

But the business comes with a hidden danger, especially for Indian IT giants. Companies like Infosys, TCS and Wipro shares a strong hand with their maintenance dealers- SAP and Oracle, and a mass shakeup means things may go from good to worse.

"Third-party maintenance represents an untapped opportunity for IT services firms, to not only demonstrate value to their customer, but also help them free up funds for innovative new projects," said Ray Wang, principal analyst and chief executive officer of Constellation Research and one of the world's most respected technology analysts, as appeared on TOI.

What’s the Global Viewpoint

From a global perspective, the trend seems to work just fine. Corporations like U.K's United Biscuits, German steelmaker Thyssenkrupp, and defence contractor BAE Systems have all started outsourcing their maintenance processes to third party companies. On the other hand, Indian IT is pretty shaky and clearly on the other side of the boat.
