While Apple Embraces India, Google Turns Its Back

According to the TOI reports, Samsung wanted to bring Galaxy Nexus to India as soon as possible. The launch was planned for December 2011, but was postponed to January. Since the company was looking at Galaxy Note then, the plan was totally scrapped out.

When Nexus 7 was launched in U.S. in July, Asus said that it would come to India by October. But this did not take place as sources found that the statement did not go well with Google executives taking care of Android in Asia Pacific.

Nexus 4 faced the same situation. After the device was launched globally in early November, it was supposed to come to India very soon that month, said an LG Executive. But it was found that the statement was misquoted.

After jointly discussing with Google, Asus said that Nexus 7 would be launched soon, but there was no sign of it even after two months.

Along with the popularity of Android, Nexus seems to be wanted, especially among tech savvy enthusiasts. But its delay makes the consumers want more of other high ended Smartphones.

On the other hand, Apple seems to take India as its priority even though it was not like that earlier. In 2012, Apple changes its distribution in India. It moved away from carriers like Airtel and Vodafone and is now using Redington and Ingram Micro to distribute its iPhone. The latest iPhones and iPads came to India weeks after their global launch. Apple is also prompt in launching its laptops while Google’s Chromebooks that target budget-conscious users is yet to avail in India.
