WebEx Comm eyes small cos for acquisition

BANGALORE: WebEx Communications Inc is eyeing the global software arena for potential acquisitions. The company sells Web-based collaboration and conferencing software. The company has over 64 percent market share in the space with closest competitor, Microsoft, has 18 percent. The $308-million firm intends to acquire “small” companies working in the same domain. After launching the company’s WebOffice suite, company’s Chairman and CEO, Subrah Iyar said, “We are looking at companies with revenues of around $0.27 million.” The company will spread to sales force automation, ERP, and presence management domains as it expands its “on-demand” service offerings. The WebOffice suite addresses the $ 27.27 million collaboration applications market in India. Currently the company is working with Nokia on integrating mobile phones to the suite.
