Bangalore: Yahoo's Chief Executive Carol Bartz denied speculation of tie-up with software giant Microsoft saying that Yahoo does not need a deal with Microsoft. "Yahoo doesn't have to do anything with Microsoft about anything. Yahoo actually has a bright, bright future, probably cleaner and simpler future without thinking there's any Microsoft connection. We'd be better off if we'd never heard the word Microsoft," said Bartz.

Microsoft tried last year to buy Yahoo for $47.5 billion to step up its competition against Google. According to April figures from industry tracking firms, Google dominates the online search engine market with 60 percent followed by Yahoo at 20 percent, while Microsoft trails Yahoo with slightly more than eight percent.
Microsoft's Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has repeatedly expressed interest in a deal with Yahoo but Bartz said that too much attention is being paid to the issue. "Forget about the Microsoft stuff, it's honestly not that relevant," she said
