Wavesat, C-DoT to develop broadband solutions

NEW DELHI:Wavesat, a developer of WiMAX silicon chips, Center for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) and the Communications Research Center Canada (CRC), an Government of Canada enterprise today announced they have begun working together to build a cost effective fixed wireless access solution, based on IEEE 802.16-2004 standard suitable for long reach broadband communication solutions. C-DoT and CRC have taken steps to embark on the joint development of a MILTON based core broadband platform for India, powered by Wavesat's WiMAX silicon chip technology. Vijay Madan, Executive Director of C-DoT said, Wavesat's innovative and readily available chipset will help C-DoT deliver point-to-multipoint broadband systems in a short span of time. We also see this collaboration as a driving force to speed up broadband implementation in India complementing existing fiber and DSL networks." "CRC is focused on finding technological solutions that extend broadband services to rural and remote communities," stated Dr. Veena Rawat, Acting President of the CRC. "Having a private sector partner like Wavesat join this team effort will allow us to take advantage of their market expertise, helping get us closer to addressing long range broadband communication needs."
