Volkswagen to launch new Jetta variant mid-2011

Chennai: German automobile maker Volkswagen will launch new car model in India sometime in mid-2011 once it completes deliveries on its order book, a company official said Friday. "We will complete deliveries of Jetta car and then launch a new variant during the second half of the calendar year," Neeraj Garg, Volkswagen India's director (Passenger Car Sales), told reporters after inaugurating a new dealership here. Last year, the company sold around 2,500 units of Jetta model in India. The company Friday launched its Vento IPL edition to coincide with the beginning of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. Jain said that with the revamping of the production facility in Pune, delays will be a thing of past and assured delivery of Passat model within one month of booking. Last fiscal, Volkswagen sold 51,608 units of all its models - Passat, Jetta, Vento, Touareg and Beetle.
