CHENNAI: Westborough headquartered Virtusa, provider of outsourced high-end software engineering services, is going to set up its Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Chennai. This is in addition to its technology centers in Hyderabad housing over 700 people across two facilities. The facility in Chennai will go live in January next year. Spreading across 60,000 square feet in the initial phase, the facility will house 600 people. It was only three months ago, Virtusa had set up its second facility in Hyderabad. Besides, Virtusa is going to invest $15 million this year in India, which will include investment both in its Chennai and Hyderabad facilities. By the next 12 months, it intends to double up its employee base, which is currently 1,500. According to chairman & CEO of Virtusa, Kris Canekeratne, since the company’s experience in Hyderabad was very delightful, it plans to concentrate more on South. The last 12 months saw a steep growth in its revenue. "Where the leaders in IT services worldwide could grow by only 50 per cent and the industry as such in India grew by 20 per cent, we made a remarkable growth of 85 per cent. And we could register such a growth because of our productization methodology that is very unique," remarked Kris. Productization methodology, according to Canekeratne is a methodology to increase software efficiency. Unlike developing applications for every requirement in an organization, this methodology identifies the commonalties in the various applications and combines them into a common platform. "Most companies do generic IT services but we are focused on building product class solutions," Kris added. (Source: CIOL)
