Bangalore: VMware, a provider of virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, came up with new initiatives around its core products - VMware View, the VMware vCenter Product Family and VMware vSphere, to drive 'business infrastructure virtualization' adoption in India. The aim is to enable Indian organizations and their IT departments to shift their primary focus from maintenance to enhancing efficiency and innovation. Unlike other offerings in the market, the new initiatives focus on virtualization for individual components within the IT infrastructure. VMware delivers the portfolio of solutions for business infrastructure virtualization, and can help customers reduce capital and operating expenses, boost efficiency, improve agility, ensure business continuity and strengthen security. IT departments can optimize financial energy by reducing capital and datacenter costs to get more done with less, shift human energy from servicing hardware to driving the business, and save the Earth's energy by using less power, cooling and real estate. "Most businesses today equate virtualization with capital expenditure savings that result from server consolidation. With a broader virtualization strategy, as defined by business infrastructure virtualization, Indian businesses increasingly realize that they can achieve even more, through savings from financial, human and the Earth's energy. We are offering our customers one platform for all of their IT and virtualization needs, from deployment to management and support," said T. Srinivasan, Managing Director, VMware India and SAARC. Currently, VMware has more than 600 customers in India, including Atrenta India, Bajaj Auto, Chitale Dairy, Dewan Housing Finance Corporation, Essel Propack, Future Businesstech, i2 Technologies, Macawber Beekay, Mahindra and Mahindra, Persistent Systems, Reliance General Insurance and Religare among others. The company is planning to invest more to grow its business and drive virtualization adoption globally and in India. It has established a network of more than 230 partners to support its business expansion across the country. Some of the initiatives that the company has taken to expand in the Indian market, includes, new approach to desktop computing, improved business agility with VMware vCenter product family and VMware vSphere 4, enabling the delivery of efficient, flexible and reliable IT as a service.
