VCs, PEs invest $528 M in India in Q2

BANGALORE: Private Equity and Venture Capital firms have invested over half a billion dollars in India during the three months of Q2, a newspaper reported. PE firms invested about $528 million in 28 Indian companies in the second quarter of current fiscal, the Economic Times reported. The amount invested in Q2 is much higher compared to the level in the same period last year, the paper said adding the amount is significantly higher than the previous April-June 2005 Q1 which saw about $395 million being invested in 36 companies. The IT and ITeS sector raised about $55 million and included companies like Nevis Networks, July Systems, VisualSoft Technologies and FourSoft, the paper said. Higher investments was also seen in other business sectors, the paper said.
