Unitech allotted spectrum for four service areas

New Delhi: Telecom operator Unitech Wireless, a subsidiary of real estate major Unitech, Monday said it has received 4.4 MHz of spectrum in the 1,800 MHz GSM bandwidth in four service areas. The company received spectrum in Assam for all districts except Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Kamrup, a company statement said. In Rajasthan, it received spectrum for all districts except Bikaner, Barmer, Bharatpur, Dausa, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalore and Sirohi. In the northeast service area, spectrum was allotted for all the districts except East-Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya and Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh, the statement said. Finally, in Jammu and Kashmir, Unitech received spectrum for all districts barring Doda and Anantnag. With this, the company has been allotted spectrum in 20 service areas out of the total 22 service areas in the country. Unitech recently sold 60 percent stake in its telecom business to Norway's Telenor.
