Bangalore: Unisys Corporation today announced that it would open two additional global sourcing operations centers in India as part of its previously announced plans to expand its offshore resources to 6,000 people by 2008. A second facility at SJR iPark Whitefield, just outside Bangalore, will be operational by mid-October 2006. The third facility will be located in Hyderabad and is expected to be operational in the second quarter 2007. The Hyderabad and Whitefield facilities will allow Unisys to expand beyond its original Bangalore center, which is currently operating at full capacity. These facilities will enable Unisys to tap into a broader talent pool while providing customer service capabilities, such as further backup and disaster recovery solutions, for the initial Bangalore facility. “In today’s IT services business, it is essential to have a fluid, cost-effective global delivery model,” said Joe McGrath, CEO of Unisys. “Unisys is committed to providing a service infrastructure that deploys the optimal resources at the right price everywhere to meet clients’ most pressing service requirements.” The two new Indian centers continue Unisys expansion of its global services capabilities. Earlier this year the company opened new centers in Budapest, Hungary, and Shanghai, China. Unisys opened its first global sourcing operations center in Bangalore in April 2004, significantly expanding its longtime presence in India. The assignments of Unisys resources in India span the full scope of technology services including: software application development and support, systems integration, IT and business process outsourcing, maintenance of existing software solutions, and internal administration functions.
