Unisys and Wipro Tech in for global alliance

Bangalore: Unisys Corporation and Wipro Technologies, the global IT service of Wipro announced a global alliance where the two companies plan to execute go-to-market and delivery activities for managed services in an integrated way. The two companies plan to provide a range of IT services to enterprises and public sector clients. Wipro Technologies along with Unisys will provide deskside and hardware support services and multi-lingual desk services to their global customers. According to G K Prasanna, Sr VP, Technology Infrastructure, Wipro Technologies, “This integrated delivery engine draws on the complementary capabilities of Wipro and Unisys and provides our customer with a unified global delivery platform for managing their infrastructure outsourcing. He added that this alliance would help Wipro and Unisys to drive quantum improvements for the customers. This will be through lower TCO, improved resource management and stronger governance. The alliance has brought in a major engagement for Fortune 500 companies based in the United States in which Unisys will be the subcontractor to Wipro technologies. Together Wipro Technologies and Unisys plan to support over 20, 000 employees in United States, Canada and United Kingdom. The contract signed between the two companies, which will be signed in the third quarter of 2006, is approximately $27.5 million. As a subcontractor, Unisys will also provide clients with non-remote support services, which includes maintenance of desktops and servers, deskside support, installation of equipments and tape changes at data centers. President of Unisys Global Outsourcing an Infrastructure Services, Randy Hendrick said that the two companies share a mutual commitment for customer service and innovation. He also added that together they would create significant business vale for clients worldwide.
