US restaurants to open up in India in 2012

Bangalore: Micky Jagtiani's Landmark Group is expanding its network in hospitality and leisure business in India. Citymax India, the Hospitality Department of Landmark group, is all set for a strong opening of two iconic American restaurant chains, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and PF Chang's China Bistro in the first half of 2012, reported by sources close to the concerns, as stated by Times Of India.

Jagtiani has signed up former Ruby Tuesday head,Vishal Sawhney, to lead the hospitality business. While the expectations from hospitality business are going up, it is expected to hit the target revenue by $1 billion by 2013 in India.

A master franchisee agreement is in the last stage of talks for things to get finalized. This has been reported by close associates, who are familiar with the plans of PF Chang's and Krispy Kreme, both listed on the US bourses. However, it has been indicated by Jagtiani that the Landmark Group will possibly be listed on the Indian stock exchange in near future. Being ranked as the third largest group in the country after Future Group and Reliance Retail, the Landmark Group is set to expand its network in hospitality and leisure business in India.

Vishal Swahney, the new President of Landmark Hospitality industry said, "We would not want to comment on market speculation." Citymax India, which runs a variety of entertainment hubs, like - Gloria Jean's Coffees, Polynation Food Courts and Sanjeev Kapoor's The Yellow Chilli restaurants, besides having an indoor family entertainment centre called Fun City.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, famous for gluten-free bakery products such as Original Glazed Donuts, will be competing with America’s chain of Dunkin' Donuts, which is expected to hit Indian markets by 2012. Launching in India with its own franchisee, Jubilant Foodworks, is in the self-service in the restaurant space (QSR). The North Carolina-based doughnut and coffee store chain, founded in 1937 has witnessed a steady growth in the business expansion chain in the economies of China and India. However, it is expected that the profit margin will get doubled up over the next five years.

Since last year, PF Chang's, one of the most popular Chinese fine dining restaurants in India, are on talks for collaboration with Indian cuisine companies. It has been noticed that the young population is more inclined towards eating out and spending a considerable amount of money in fine dining. This has encouraged a considerable amount of Chinese restaurants seeking homage in India.
