U.S. nationals to savor Mysorepak

CHENNAI: Sri Krishna Sweets, one of the well-liked sweet manufacturers in South India, would soon start making Mysorepak (milk sweet) in the U.S. The Indian American Business Promotion Council (IABPC), at a function organized by the Madras Management Association here, honored the business house for its commendable service. Sri Krishna Sweets announced that it was setting up an outlet in California so that Indians as well as Americans could savor the sweet. M. Murali and M. Krishnan, the two brothers running the business, were conferred the title of the best businesspersons of the year 2006. The sweet manufacturing house was also honored by the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North India (FETNA). Talking at the ceremony, the US Consul General in Chennai, David T. Hopper, called for 'more dosaikal’ (dosa-making pan) and south Indian food outlets in the U.S.' Terming Sri Krishna Sweets as wonderful ambassadors for cuisine and culture, he said, “Let the delicious foods of Tamil Nadu flourish in the U.S.” The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce said it is exploring options as to how skilled Indian cooks could get visas more easily to work in the U.S.
