U.S. CEOs plan to ramp up hiring: Roundtable
New York: The major U.S. companies are more confident about the economic recovery, with a number of CEOs planning to increase hiring over the next six months, according to a new survey. The survey of the Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs of big U.S. companies shows that 39 percent of the chief executives expect to increase their companies' U.S. head count in the second half of 2010. While only 17 percent plan to cut jobs, 43 percent say that there would be no change in their current workforce. According to the survey, the proportion of those planning to hire is at the highest level since mid-2007. Companies are adding jobs as sales recover, says the survey. Compared to the 4 percent who forecast declines, 79 percent 79 percent of CEOs say they expect sales to rise in the second half. Among the member companies of the Business Roundtable, 106 were surveyed between May 24 and June 14. The member companies employ some 12 million people, generating almost $6 trillion in collective annual revenue.
