Bangalore: UST Global, an IT and BPO services firm inaugurated its new Manila offshore development center today, attended by Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Republic of Philippines. The new center is a state of the art facility built to cater to its Global 2000 clients in North America and Europe. UST Global first came to Manila after recognizing Philippines as an emerging destination for IT outsourcing and identifying the potential rate of development in the region. Ever since the company first set up its Manila center, the center has been in expansion mode in preparation for opening this larger center. In accordance with the California based organization's aggressive expansion plans across Asia, there are plans for a considerable increase in the resource strength of the Manila center. In the first phase of expansion, UST Global seeks to hire around 1,000 IT professionals at the new center over the next 12 months and envisions the workforce growing to more than 5,000 IT professionals over the next few years. Since UST Global provides solutions for the Global 2000 market, associates at the Manila center will be working very closely with some of the most powerful business enterprises in the world. UST Global's CEO Sajan Pillai stated, "In the past 10 years, UST Global has been working with some of the biggest names in world business. Through our new center in Manila, we have access to some of Asia's most talented knowledge professionals for building on our Global Engagement Model. We are also expanding in other parts of the world, such as Latin America, with the same objective of tapping into these overlooked talent pools." IT professionals can expect a world-class work environment at the new facility, as UST Global believes in not only delivering smart solutions but also in building strong relationships with its associates, giving them the opportunity to develop their competencies and skills. Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said, "We believe that we need to focus on three areas to develop IT in Philippines; connectivity infrastructure, policies and good business environment, and human resource development. We have half a million jobs created in the BPO space and it is our time to move to the next level of value added services, that's IT. We thank UST Global for investing in Philippines and providing opportunities for Filipino nationals both experienced as well as fresh graduates thereby increasing our competitiveness." Joe Nalkara, President of UST Global, believes that the Philippines center will be a strategically significant geographical and business location for the growing Asian presence of UST Global. "We zeroed in on the Philippines because of the highly skilled and refined work culture we have observed here. This is a perfect match with the style of functioning we follow elsewhere in our centers," he affirms.
