Lucknow: To streamline erratic movement of roadway buses and provide accurate information about their location to commuters, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install Global Positioning System (GPS) in all new as well as existing buses. "We have decided to get the GPS installed in all the buses to facilitate passengers desiring to travel on roadways buses", State Transport Minister Ram Achal Rajbhar told PTI. The GPS system would be in place in the new 1310 buses being purchased for seven big cities of the state including Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, the minister said, adding that besides this the existing buses would also be equipped with it. At present, the common complaint of passengers is that there is no set time schedule being followed by Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses and drivers make unscheduled stops.
