UMUC to hold seminar on 'India: Intellectual capital for the 21st Century'

Adelphi, MD: University of Maryland University College is organizing a seminar on how American companies can strengthen their competitive advantage and bottom line. There will be discussions on how American companies can leverage India’s intellectual talent through investment in and outsourcing from India for IT and software development, Research and development and Business process outsourcing. Performing these non-core and core activities in offshore locations has emerged as a strategic initiative for hundreds of organizations over the last decade, with a large part of such work being performed in India. The seminar, which will take palce on June 27, 2003, will present best practices and actionable ideas on how companies can safeguard their intellectual property and interests in licensing and joint ventures in India. Thought leaders from both American companies that use India's high tech talent through their own subsidiaries in India or through outsourcing, and Indian and American companies that provide such services, will present their perspectives on the seminar theme. These include: Burns & Levinson, Computer Sciences Corporation, Cvent, EDS, and Wipro. Dr. Anil Gupta, Professor of Strategy & Organization, University of Maryland at College Park, will deliver the keynote address on: Comparative and Competitive Advantage in the 21st Century.
