UK firm picks Kshema for ODC

BANGALORE: Kshema Technologies has signed a 3-year offshore development agreement with UK-based mobile software licensing company, Symbian through which the company will provide software development and engineering services to Symbian's software engineering group. The initial team of 50, based in Bangalore, will focus on core Symbian OS technologies, application technologies and product engineering. The team is expected to grow over the next two quarters. Symbian OS, the leading operating system for advanced data enabled mobile phones, also known as smartphones is licensed to over 80 per cent of the world’s mobile phone manufacturers including Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, and Sony-Ericsson. Kent Eriksson, EVP software engineering, Symbian, said, "Symbian and its licensees are focused on creating a mass market of Symbian OS smartphones. Kshema provides Symbian with highly qualified engineers and a flexible IT environment that are needed to address the fast changing environment that comes with developing the most advanced mobile technologies in the market." The aim of our initiative with Kshema is to tap into local software expertise and strengthen our engineering base to cater more closely to our fast changing customer needs worldwide," said, Sanj Prabhakar, Kshema, head off-shore center for Symbian.
