San Francisco: In the last day of the Web 2.0 Summit, Evan Williams, Co-Founder, Twitter was the final speaker. There was a lot of anticipation on likely announcements from Twitter, which however didn't happen. It was expected that Twitter would likely talk of a funding round or the launch of the analytics dashboard product. Sadly none of those happened. However, Williams reiterated that Twitter continued to remain in talks with Facebook to negotiate with the social networking site to unblock its ban on a way to find Twitter followers through Facebook. Said Williams, "We are talking to them often to see if there is a way to work together, but so far neither side has seen a way to do that." He added that he was 'frustrate' with Facebook's stand. He mentioned that the 'promoted' tweet accounts are doing well. He said, "The math looks good, and most of the advertisers are coming back and they're buying more." On its sour relationship with the developer community, Williams said that he was not apologetic on his company's decision to build apps for Twitter site that directly compete with some successful third-party applications. Williams also hinted on new internal products like a 'reputation score' for each user. With Twitter offering products that stand on third party developers' face, looks like the future will not see too much amicability between the two parties. And we are waiting to see what happens in the Facebook front as well.
