Turin Networks opens office in India

BANGALORE: US based developer and supplier of multi service optical transport platforms for telecommunications carriers worldwide, Turin Networks, Inc., has opened an India office in Bangalore promising an investment of $2 million in the next few year. Established primarily as a development center with future plans to undertake market development activities and support the company’s regional channel partners, Turin Networks India Pvt Ltd., will be led by Raghu Santamavattur as Managing Director. It will be touching a headcount of around 60 people in the next few years. "By opening this new facility in India, we are able to draw upon the region’s skilled software professionals to enhance the design and development of our industry leading Traverse product line," said John Webley, president and CEO of Turin Networks. "Furthermore, India is an important part of Turin's market development strategy. Telecommunications carriers and government organizations throughout the region are making significant investments in their infrastructure to support the deployment of next-generation services. We feel that the time is right for Turin to introduce our products in India." Service providers worldwide are faced with the challenge of modernizing their transport networks to accommodate both traditional services as well as new high bandwidth IP/data services such as broadband Internet access and Ethernet. Turin Networks’ Traverse platform is a family of next-generation, multi service transport products, designed specifically to cater to this requirement. The Traverse product line is an evolutionary solution that integrates smoothly with the existing infrastructure and enables telecommunications carriers to affordably increase the capacity, efficiency and service flexibility of their transport networks. The Traverse platform unifies next-generation SDH/SONET ADM (add-drop multiplexer), DCS (digital cross-connect) and Ethernet switching in a single carrier-class shelf.
