INDIA: Trend Micro, Inc., a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, today announced its TrendLabs headquarters in Manila has been awarded certification for British Standards 7799 for meeting the British Standards Institute’s stringent requirements for an information security management system. Satisfying these standards helps ensure that Trend Micro’s customers are supported by TrendLabs in the face of day-to-day security risks and computer intrusion to power outages and physical disasters. British Standards 7799 (BS 7799) are information security management standards set by the British Standards Institute, a globally recognised standards body for private and public sectors. BS 7799 focuses on security policy, physical and environmental security, access control and business continuity management for the manufacturing and service industries. “TrendLabs is proud to be acknowledged for meeting the strict standards for our information security management system,” said Oscar Chang, executive vice president of Global Security Services and Response for Trend Micro, Inc. “Through this certification and British Standards guidelines, we are taking extra measures to be sure we are consistently accessible for our customers, who are themselves in the business of providing continuous service to their clients or internal customers within their organisations.” TrendLabs is Trend Micro’s global research and support centre that provide customers with 24x7 response to the latest malicious threats like viruses, worms, spyware, adware, spam, and phishing. It has around-the-clock operations in the Philippines, the United States, Taiwan, Japan, Germany and France and is the only global antivirus response service center of its kind to offer the option of a penalty-backed two-hour Service Level Agreement to its customers. In addition to system and personnel backups in different parts of the world (in case of localised natural disasters), TrendLabs has established controls on seemingly minor threats, including physical intrusion by unauthorised persons or computer-aided intrusion by “hackers”. In addition to BS 7799, TrendLabs’ headquarters is certified by ISO 9001:2000 for internationally accepted standards of quality assurance in its management and service procedures. It is also certified by the Customer Operations Performance Center for meeting internationally recognised COPC-2000 Standards designed to measure the effectiveness and quality of customer support organisations.
