WASHINGTON: Online travel service travelocity.com plans to outsource about 300 call centre jobs to India. The move is expected to result in annual cost savings of about $10 million for the Southlake-based company, according to reports. Travelocity said it would shut a call centre at Clintwood, Virginia, by the end of the year. The centre employs about 250 workers. Employees affected by the closure would be offered transfers to Travelocity facilities in Texas or Pennsylvania. The company also plans to cut 50 jobs at its customer service centre in San Antonio, Texas. The work would be outsourced to Indian company WNS North America, which is part owned by British Airways. WNS will begin fielding Travelocity's customer calls in April or May, with a complete transition expected by the end of the year, according to the Dallas Business Journal.
