Raipur: A day-long traders' strike, called by the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries here Monday to protest against the anti-encroachment drive of the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC), caused a loss of at least 1 billion (100 crore), the lobby said. The RMC has demolished over 250 shopping outlets in the city within a month. The strike, which had the backing of the opposition Congress party as well as the Shiv Sena, was successful with traders and businessmen keeping their shutters down, seeking an immediate halt to the drive, the chamber said.
