Bangalore: Computer manufacturer Toshiba has recalled 41,000 Satellite laptops after customers complained of overheating and melting cases. The recalled laptops include the Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite ProT130 range of models.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada said in a joint statement that the Toshiba laptops could overheat and possibly melt the area around the notebooks' plug-in to the AC adapter. Around 129 reports have been reported in the commission regarding the same. Customers have experienced minor injuries as well.

The laptop models were sold between August 2009 and August 2010. Their prices ranged from $600 to $800 and were sold both in stores and online.
Toshiba has released BIOS revisions for the faulty laptops that can disable external power after failure. Toshiba said batteries cannot be recharged until the problem is fixed. Toshiba has asked customers to call the company's product support line for repairs.

I would not support Toshiba for this major flaw in their product. I would but say that I appreciate them for withdrawing back their products Honestly WITHOUT HIDING ANYTHING. There are many others in India and also elsewhere who do not bother about the recall and dump it on the client. The indian service centres of international brands in computer are totally unreliable and they treat indians as third rate citizens. Global companies should get the feedback from clients directly and not thru their vendors. Again recently I went to give my RAM that did not work. It was a year old. Warranty was still there. The shop was found closed many times, so careless they were to the clients with too much of work and less staff on their shoulders. The giant global companies were represented by these cheap local companies-who eye washed and window dressed the bosses whenever they visited. It is like Funding NGOs from abroad visiting for giving grants. Horrible.
Thanks to Toshiba in preventing futher inconvenience to the buyers. The name has not lost its lustre.
I am a user of a later set. It is good.
